Attach a file or share a link

Choose a standard attachment or a temporary link according to the file size and your plan. Keep control of uploads, expiry and links you have already sent.

Available since 9 October 2026

The guides describe available tasks. Some options depend on your plan, your workspace’s capabilities and your provider’s permissions.

Choose how to share the file

Standard attachments remain available on all plans, within their size limits and the provider’s limits. A file that is too large may be offered as a shared file if your plan includes storage. Access (legacy contract) does not include file hosting.

For Microsoft, the send limit applies to the whole encoded message and may be lower than the general attachment limit. A size rejection preserves the draft; use an eligible shared link or reduce the files before trying again.

The four new plans are published in production on 12 October 2026. Prices are indicative and exclude tax; payments are not enabled. The administrator assigns a plan after checking your workspace’s capabilities. The shared quota covers retained email copies, their attachments and shared files. GB are decimal. The separate 512 MiB reading cache is unchanged: it is neither this quota nor the maximum size of your mailbox at the provider. High volume remains unavailable until your workspace is authorised for twenty mailboxes.

  1. Add the file to your message and review the displayed suggestion.
  2. For a shared link, choose seven or thirty days and check the size and name.
  3. Confirm Share and add to message to authorise the upload and insertion.

Wait for transfer to complete

A shared-file upload starts only with your approval. Each file has its own progress; the link is inserted after success at the saved composition position. Your existing text is preserved, including when several files are uploading.

An incomplete or failed upload blocks sending. Resume it or explicitly remove the affected file, then check that the message can be sent. Files and archives share your personal quota; an unfinished upload also reserves space.

Understand when the link expires

The validity period starts when the upload finishes, not when you send the email. The message shows the link’s expiry date. Anyone with the link can use it while it is valid: share it only with your intended recipients.

Changing the duration creates a new link and replaces only the selected occurrence in your message. Previously sent links keep their own expiry and validity. The original upload completion remains the starting point; an already expired duration cannot be reactivated this way.

Manage shared files

Find your files and links in file and storage settings. Revoking a file prevents new access through its links. You cannot recall a copy already downloaded or remove a block already transferred to its recipient.

Expiry or revocation does not automatically free quota: deletion is a separate action. Recipients download the file from a dedicated page; it is not executed in Aerogram. Sharing does not guarantee that a file is safe; open only documents you expect.

Open Aerogram settings → Files and storage → Sharing by link to manage these files. Storage usage and retention have their own views. Switching views does not revoke or delete a file or renew a link; explicitly choose the intended action and check its result.
