File your messages and find your way back to the inbox

Aerogram separates Aerogram tags from provider filing and lets you return a Spam message to the inbox with Not spam.

Available since 12 October 2026

How this helps

Keep tags shared across your mailboxes, choose filing for the right account and easily return a message from Spam to the inbox. Action tracking keeps the scope and result of each choice visible.

A practical example

An expected invoice is in Spam within a conversation that also contains inbox messages. Choose Not spam: only messages actually filed in Spam return to their original mailbox’s inbox. You can then add the Invoices tag to find the conversation again.

In practice

The dialog opens with tags and their existing management controls. Aerogram tags remain local and work across your mailboxes; a conversation can have several. Editing or removing a tag does not delete any message at the provider.

File in this mailbox opens the existing labels or folders that the mailbox supports. Filing in this view synchronises with its provider. The back button returns to tags in the same dialog; changing views applies no action and converts no folder or provider label into a tag.

When a selection covers several accounts, mailbox sections keep the targets separate. Counts and partial states show whether a choice applies to the whole selection or just part of it. System labels and the dedicated archive, spam and trash actions retain their safeguards.

A message actually filed in Spam displays a notice and the Not spam button below its sender, on desktop and mobile. The same action is available in its menu and in the Spam folder’s selection bar. It targets only Spam messages, including in a mixed conversation or a selection across several mailboxes.

The move back to the inbox uses existing durable actions: check progress, confirmation or errors, and Undo when offered. A selection that is too large must be reduced before any move. Blocking rules, image permissions and read/unread states are preserved; moving a message does not promise to train the provider’s spam filter.

Action tracking keeps refusals, partial outcomes and uncertain results visible. A provider mutation with an uncertain result is never replayed automatically. The Organise and follow up guide explains those states and what you can check before making another decision.

Staging preview, 13 October 2026: the filter home focuses on name, summary, state and editing. Only problems requiring action appear there; activity remains optional in the editor. Explicit suggestions, sender and mailbox confirmation, and separate processing of older messages are preserved.
